What is the best program for my doggie?
Similar to kids, every dog is unique and has different training needs. At Doggie Do Good we offer a variety of options to best suit the needs of you and your doggie for the very best results. Doggie Camp is our most successful program for people looking to get the very best results. We also offer obedience classes for those do it yourselfers who want to go through the whole training process with your doggie. An obedience class is an excellent opportunity to get you and your doggie out together for training, socialization, and fun. For those who have busy schedules and specific needs, we also offer Private Lessons. Whether the training need is territorial aggression, boundary issues, potty training, any type of basic obedience or behavioral issues; we can send a Doggie Do Good trainer to come to your location to work with you and your doggie’s specific training needs. Private Lessons are an excellent way to work with your doggie in a comfortable environment of your choice.
My doggie is really old, can he still be trained?
Yes, we train dogs of all sizes, personalities, breeds, and ages. At Doggie Do Good, we really can teach old dogs new tricks!
Are you a kennel?
No, we are not a kennel. Doggie Do Good, Inc. is a full service training facility. Whether your doggie is here for Doggie Camp, Doggie Day Care, or Doggie Sitting, they are in a friendly home environment on two and a half acres, where they get to socialize and play with both people and other doggies with constant supervision by professional trainers.
My dog is stubborn and impossible to train, do you really think you can help?
No dog is really impossible to train. We have had many of doggie owners bring us their dog saying the same thing, only to be surprised by how well behaved their doggie is when we do the return. Keep in mind that we usually get the toughest of the tough dogs to train so we have lots of experience and success with the “impossible to train” dog. We love the challenge and we have yet to find the dog we could not train.
What areas do you service?
Doggie Do Good, Inc. provides service dog training and Doggie Camp nationwide. With our other programs we service most of California. If you choose to have a private lesson, we can travel to your home. We provide Obedience Classes along the Central Coast of California.
Am I allowed to go visit my doggie while he is training in camp?
Yes. We would never stop you from seeing your doggie. Always consult with one of the trainers however to make sure you don’t do something that sets the training back. We also ask that you check in first to make sure your doggie is not out on a field trip training.
What does my dog need if it attends your camp?
When you are ready to drop your doggie off for camp, there are very few things that we need from you...
1) Please make sure your doggie is current on all his vaccinations (including Bordatella). We will need a copy of your vaccination records.
2) We will need enough food for the entire length of your doggie's stay with us. Coming to Camp is a big adjustment for your dog and we would hate to have to change your dogs diet as well.
3) Your doggie will need to be current on some sort of flea control (Advantage/frontline...) and that is simply because your dog will be staying indoors in Sandy Sandbergs home.
Will my dog miss me/forget me?
We like to think of Doggie Do Good as a "Doggie Disneyland". There are so many dogs here to play with and your dog is going to get so much attention between training and playing that it will be hard for your dog to have a free second to miss you! A lot of the seperation anxiety is from the owners themselves. But you can rest easy knowing that your dog is in a good environment and making tons of new friends!
Do I have to do 21 days?
While doing twenty one days of camp is recommended it is not required. You can send your dog to camp for as little as two days. The more time that your dog spends at camp the more behaviors your dog will be able to learn. For example: Ten days of camp you may choose two behaviors we can work on.(stay, and barking) It is best to discuss with a trainer what behaviors you would like your dog to learn and go from there.
What does off property mean?
Off property simply means a Doggie Field Trip. Our staff tries to get your dog "Off Property" everyday (Parks, Beaches...). We want to expose your dog to as many new environments as possible. We train your dog while off property so that they learn to listen to the trainers regardless of their surroundings.
What qualifications do I need to get a service dog from Doggie Do Good, Inc.?
To qualify for a service dog, we require a signed letter from your doctor that deals with your disability, explaining how and why you can benefit from a service dog. We have a packet that we will provide you with that will ask questions about you, your disability, lifestyle, and what you are looking for out of a service dog.
What kind of service dogs do you train?
For those with disabilities, we can train a variety of service dogs, (i.e.) hearing, mobility, psychiatric, seizure assistance, stability etc. We train to fit the owner’s needs. We will customize the service dog training to help give the disabled owner an easier and more fulfilled life.
Do you already have the service dogs at your facility for me to choose from?
We sometimes have dogs here that may qualify to be your service dog. If you would like to certify a doggie that you already own, we can evaluate your doggie and let you know if they would be an appropriate candidate to train as a certified service dog. We can also help you pick out a suitable dog from a breeder or elsewhere.
How long will it take to train a service dog for me?
The service dog training period will vary on how many tasks the dog needs to learn and will also depend on the dog. Before we start the training, we will give you an estimated time frame.
What are private lessons?
Private lessons are for the owner who would like in home assistance with training. A professional Doggie Do Good Trainer will come to your home and work on the behaviors you request. The trainers goal while at your house is to show you how to work on the behaviors you would like your dog to learn, but it will be up to you to work with your dog on a consistent basis if you want to see any results. Keep in mind that private lessons are hourly so the more you want to work on, the longer it is going to take.
What can we work on during a private lesson?
Private lessons are all custom to you and your needs as a pet owner. A good starting point for our trainers would be any problem behaviors you might be having with your dog or any basic obedience you would like your dog to learn.
What are the criteria of your classes?
Our classes are geared towards the owner who would like to be involved in their dogs training and who have the time to consistently work with their dog. Our Basic Obedience class accepts dogs who are at least 6 months of age and current on all their vaccinations.
What do you use as training tools?
Doggie Do Good uses a variety of training tools to train your doggie. Just like humans, every dog is different and what works well for one dog may not work well for another. At Doggie Do Good we are professional trainers who will evaluate the needs of your dog and the best method of training. We always couple our training with praise and love. We understand that some owners may feel differently about certain training methods and we would never use a training tool that you were uncomfortable with.
